At San Diego California Dental Group, we treat patients of all ages to happy, healthy, and strong smiles. Preventive and general dentistry care is the best way to keep your teeth looking and feeling great for many years to come. We recommend visits to our practice every six months or as otherwise recommended by Dr. Kim. Cleanings and exams allow us to detect early signs of dental problems and prevent further damage from occurring.
We provide a full range of comprehensive dental services as well as root canal treatment. When a tooth becomes seriously injured, broken, or decayed, the pulp within the tooth can become compromised as well, causing infection. Root canal therapy involved removing the damaged pulp, as well as cleaning and sealing the tooth chambers to prevent the spread of infection.
Your health and comfort is our number one priority. Utilizing advanced dental technology, advanced techniques, and compassionate care, we can treat you and your family to many years of beautiful smile. We offer the following general dentistry services to enhance your smile’s appearance:
Amalgam(Metal) Free Dentistry: Our patients who prefer amalgam-free (metal-free) dental fillings will be happy to know that Dr. Kim can work with a spectrum of dental materials, including those that are free of mercury or amalgam. If you are interested in metal-free dentistry, the San Diego California Dental Group can work with you to devise a treatment plan focus at repairing or replacing your natural teeth without the use of metal; giving you a beautiful healthy smile.
Dentures: At the San Diego California Dental Group, we educate our patients to know that a denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Dr. Kim looks forward to going over options with you complete, partial, and removable implant-retained dentures.
Bridges: A bridge spans the space of one or more missing teeth. A fixed bridge is cemented to the teeth surrounding the missing tooth. During your 1st visit with the San Diego California Dental Group, Dr. Kim will prepare the teeth on either side of the missing tooth and take impressions of your teeth to be sent to the dental lab to create the bridge. Prior to your follow up appointment, Dr. Kim will provide you with a temporary bridge to protect the exposed teeth. Once the permanent bridge is designed, Dr. Kim will fit, adjust, and cement the bridge into place.
Inlays and Onlays: Inlays and onlays saves your beautiful smile by repairing teeth with mild to moderate amounts of decay on the tooth. They have also been used to repair minor cracks or chips in teeth whereas more severe damage may require a dental crown. This is a common procedure when the decay or damage is confined to the cusps of the tooth and is an alternative to composite fillings. An inlay lies within the cusps (bumps) of the tooth whereas an onlay covers one or more cusps. The procedure will take two office visits, during the first appointment; Dr. Kim will take an impression of the tooth to be sent to a lab for fabrication and place a temporary sealant on the tooth. During the second appointment, we will assure the inlay or onlay fits properly and will bond it to the tooth with a strong resin.
Dry Mouth (Xerostomia) Care: Dry mouth is caused by a decreased salivary secretion. This may lead into oral infections, bad breath and an increased number of cavities. Dry mouth can be caused by anxiety, consuming alcohol, tobacco smoking, dehydration, and also the use of medications. The best method to prevent dry mouth is to remain hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.
Oral Cancer Screening: Oral cancer lesions are life threatening cells in and around the mouth. A few signs and symptoms of cancerous lesions include: persistent pain or tenderness in your mouth, prolonged red or white lesions on the gums, tongue, or mouth lining, and a sore in or around your mouth that does not heal within three weeks. In just a few minutes, Dr. Eugene Kim visually examine you to detect and eliminate any oral health issues that may pose a risk to your overall oral health. To prevent oral cancer, schedule regular checkups with the San Diego California Dental Group for an oral check up at least twice a year, limit alcohol, don’t use tobacco, maintain a healthy diet, and brush and floss your teeth daily.
Emergency Dental Care: Having a dental emergency? San Diego California Dental Care are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you if you have a tooth that is broken or chipped or are in need of immediate denture repair, or have any other type of tooth pain in your smile that requires an immediate dental attention.
Expecting Mothers (Pregnancy & Dentistry): At the time of birth, your baby’s teeth will not show. But they do already exist beneath the gums of your child. Children’s primary teeth begin forming at about the 6th week of pregnancy, and start mineralizing . So if you’re currently pregnant (and by the way; congratulations!), it is time to start thinking about how to make sure your child’s teeth are as healthy as possible!
Sports/Night Guards: Here at San Diego California Dental Group, mouth guards are used mainly to prevent sport related injuries to your mouth and night guards are used for several reasons, usually night time bruxism (headaches, jaw pain, earaches, and/or teeth grinding).
